Lessons Learned in Branding My Freelance Business ✨
I hope this message finds you well! As I reflect on my journey so far in branding my freelance business,
I've encountered my fair share of mistakes and valuable lessons. Here's a glimpse into the challenges I faced:
Treating it Like a Hobby, Not a Business
Early on, I didn't realize the significance of treating my freelance work as a business. It wasn't until I turned 19 that I learned the importance of viewing my website creation as more than just a fun project; it was a tool that helped with the branding of a business, which in turn helped convert more clients.
Inconsistent Outreach
A lack of seriousness translated into inconsistent outreach efforts. Whether through a reluctance to fully commit or an oversight in recognizing the need for regular outreach, I found myself struggling with maintaining a consistent presence.
This oversight impacted the growth and visibility of my freelance business. Moreover, the results I got when doing outreach were not good yet; I did not even understand that it would take me contacting 100 people to close 1-3 paying clients.
Taking Rejection Personally
One of the toughest lessons was learning not to take rejection personally because the problem is usually not with you. Sometimes the people you contact do not understand the value of the product you want to offer, which is normal.
Rejection is not a reflection of one's worth or abilities; it's a part of the journey. Understanding this allowed me to handle setbacks with resilience and use them as stepping stones for improvement.
Not building systems
Most processes are done in one specific way, which is why there is a need to create systems so you do not have to start things all over again. That is why it is important to create a system for every aspect of your business that you possibly can, making sure you track every process you can. You can’t improve on what you did not measure in the first place.
Simple systems help you get more for doing less.
Conclusions: The Path Forward
Through these mistakes, I've learned that every misstep is an opportunity to grow. Embracing my freelance work as a business, committing to consistent outreach, developing resilience in the face of rejection, and actively working on personal branding
As I move forward, I'm excited to apply these lessons, refine my approach, and share the evolving narrative of my freelance business with you all.
Stay tuned for more insights, tips, and lessons from the world of freelancing!
I wish you success in all your endeavors.
